CPV14 - 14th International Conference on Concentrator Photovoltaics Systems


 CPV-15 will be held in Marrakech, Marocco on April 25-27, 2019


ICPV-x conference  series is intended to be a working  meeting for the discussion and the documentation of research on CPV-Concentrating Photovoltaic Technology, including the fundamental scientific principles, applied research, prototype development, deployment, manufacturing, field performance and understanding of the applications/markets/financing into which the technology may be deployed.

The event chairpersons, Prof.  Prof. Ignacio Antón and Oscar de la Rubia, CPV-14  informed in their  welcome message that in the last decades, Concentrator Photovoltaic technology has demonstrated its ability to be a “short cut” to market for new achievements or breakthroughs in the development of high efficiency solar cells, and CPV holds the records for the highest efficiencies ever achieved by any solar technology at the cell, module, and system levels. Field experiences not only show outstanding high performances, but also that CPV technology is highly reliable and comparable to standard PV.

For the third time in its history, the CPV conference was held in Spain, this time in the heart of Castilla La Mancha, a landscape known worldwide as the backdrop for Cervante’s Don Quixote de la Mancha.   Particularly  the city of Puertollano, one of the most important industrial cities of the area, is an example of transition from an ]economy highly dependent on fossil fuels to a land of opportunities for renewable energies. [Ref]

The Institute for Concentration Photovoltaics Systems (ISFOC) is one of those research centers established at Puertollano, as a result of a R&D plan developed by the Institute of Solar Energy (IES-UPM) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and promoted jointly by the Governments of Castilla La Mancha and Spain. ISFOC owns a 800 kW CPV power plant with different CPV technologies working since 2008, a success story and an important milestone in promoting the industrialization of CPV, and today a reference for demonstrating to the world the performance and reliability of the technology.[Ref]
