CHEETAH knowledge Exchange Portal is an integral part of CHEETAH project web site powered and developed by DTE unit of ENEA ©2014 - 2018 with support of all CHEETAH Partners. Starting from early 2018, CHEETAH KEP moved its first steps to became EERA Knowledge Exchange Platform for PV Technology (KEPT-PV). A new name for the previous platform characterizing our will to serve better and more efficiently in Knowledge Exchange a wider European and International PV RTD community.

Lock-in amplifiers are widely used for electrical characterization in semiconductor technology. Whereas this is a very powerful detection technique, knowledge of the fundamentals of the lock-in is essential in order to benefit from all its detection potential. In this webinar, we will review the fundamentals of the “lock-in” technique, explaining the different stages of lock-in detection (modulation, amplification, mixing, demodulation, and filtering). We will learn particular concepts related to lock-in measurements, such as dynamic reserve, phase-sensitive detection, time constant, etc. We will learn how to operate a real (in the market) lock-in device.

Lock-in amplifiers are an indispensable tool for various solar cell characterization techniques. In this seminar, we will study its application to measuring quantum efficiency. We will describe the basics of this important characterization technique, explaining to new users how to avoid common mistakes (second-order filtering, placement of the chopper, quantitative analysis, etc.).
