SOPHIA Workshop Strategic Vision for PV Research Infrastructure @ 29th EUPVSEC

SOPHIA project consortium and organizer (EPIA) invited research managers and scientists from Europe's leading PV R&D organisations to participate to the SOPHIA workshop: "European PV Research Infrastructure - Keystone for the reinforcement of the PV industry, Europe's growth and competitiveness" was held on Tuesday 23 September 2014 from 09:00 to 12:00 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, during the 29th European PV Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC).
The event was focussed on presenting the main outcomes of the SOPHIA project and discussed the findings of the Strategic Research Infrastructure Agenda (SRIA) that includes inputs from all the different topic leaders and expert groups within the SOPHIA consortium.
The workshop aimed at increasing awareness of the essential role energy research infrastructures at European level, and helping researchers and users gain knowledge for more efficient and improved functioning of PV energy systems, rationalise, optimise and achieve economies of scale, promote European leadership, contribute to the development and to the implementation of resources as well as to the development of a competitive industry contributing to European growth.
The workshop was divided in three thematic sessions:
- Session I: SOPHIA FINAL RESULTS - Contribution to all main PV research areas
- Session II: PV RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE IN EUROPE - A bright sun in Europe's plans for future growth and competitiveness?
- Session III: TRENDS, FINANCING AND INDUSTRY STRATEGIES- The answer from SOPHIA project
