A EUROPEAN PROJECT SUPPORTED THROUGH
THE SEVENTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME
FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
CHEETAH knowledge Exchange Portal is an integral part of CHEETAH project web site powered and developed by DTE unit of ENEA ©2014 - 2018 with support of all CHEETAH Partners. Starting from early 2018, CHEETAH KEP moved its first steps to became EERA Knowledge Exchange Platform for PV Technology (KEPT-PV). A new name for the previous platform characterizing our will to serve better and more efficiently in Knowledge Exchange a wider European and International PV RTD community.

IKZ-FVB Infrastucture for the preparation of Silicon and CIGS precursors

[Cheetah Partner]
  • Growth of crystalline silicon on amorphous substrates
  • Preparation of precursors for CIGS microconcentrator solar cells

Technical Info

MAIN FEATURES:

The mission of the Institute is to perform basic and applied research in the fields of growth, characterization and processing of crystalline matter and to fulfil service tasks for partners and customers in industry and science.Main PV RTD tasks of the Institute are

  • growth of crystals with dimensions between decimeters and nanometers
  • development of growth and processing technologies
  • characterization of crystals and development of methods for characterizing them
  • design and construction of components for growth, processing and characterization facilities

IKZ-Si/Ge Nanocrystals Research  group  involved in CHEETAH project is focussed on:

Silicon on glass

  • Low-temperature growth of silicon layers from metallic solutions
  • Application of amorphous substrates (glass) as precondition for cost-saving solar cells
  • Well-defined production of silicon seed layers by amorphous-crystalline phase transition (ALC) catalyzed by liquid metallic droplets
  • Structural and electrical characterization both of seed and crystallite layers

Si/Ge nanocrystals

  • Vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) growth of nanowires under UVH conditions
  • Thermodynamics of liquid solid phase transition and investigation of the growth kinetics of nanowires
  • Predefined localization of growth sites of nanostructures by local anodic oxidation (LAO) or focused ion beams (FIB)
  • Embedding of nanostructures within hydrogen silsesquioxane (HSQ) and epitaxial overgrowth starting from uncovered parts of such nanocrystals

The infrastucture offers to CHEETAH project:
