WYERS Paul

Dr. G. Paul Wyers is director of ECN Solar Energy. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Geochemistry from the University of Utrecht in 1981 and 1984 respectively. In 1987 he graduated from The Ohio State University with a Ph.D. in Geochemistry. He started his professional career at ECN in 1988, and was active in nuclear energy and environmental research, before he entered the photovoltaics field in 1997. Since 2003 he is director of ECN Solar Energy, a business unit with 80 scientists and engineers dedicated to R&D of crystalline silicon- and thin-film PV technology. He and his unit have participated, frequently as coordinator, in many European projects. In 2010 he initiated the Joint Program on Photovoltaics within the European Energy Research Alliance EERA. He has been the coordinator of this program from its start until November 2012.
