CASTRO Fernando Araujo de
Principal Research Scientist - Materials Division @NPL
Short Bio
Dr Fernando Castro leads research on photovoltaics and organic electronics at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), in the UK. He has been responsible for major breakthroughs in the measurement of the fundamental characteristics of these systems, including the development of advanced photoconductive atomic force microscopy. He has extensive experience in solution based device processing, nano and micron scale characterization. Current work includes assessment of performance, stability as well as materials and device parameters. Main interest is in the development of novel measurement methods for spatially-resolved multiple-parameter characterization.
Dr. Castro currently coordinates several projects, including the multimillion European EMRP ThinErgy project involving 13 partners from 7 countries. In addition to having delivered 15 invited talks, he has published over 40 papers (h-index = 13), two patent applications and several abstracts in conference proceedings.
