Researcher in development of overmoulding technology for printed electronics
VTT Technical Research Center of Finland | Sensing and Integration
Sami Ihme received his M.Sc. in Material Science from Tampere University of Technology in 2000 and B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Oulu Institute of Technology in 1995. He joined VTT Technical Research Center of Finland in 2012 to work as a Senior Scientist in the Research Area of Printed and Hybrid Functionalities. His current team is Concept Creation and Pilot Manufacturing. His main research focus is on R&D of overmoulding of printed electronics. His other responsibilities are related to the management of hybrid integration R&D projects and consulting in materials engineering especially of start-up companies. He is involved in several EU- H2020 and TEKES projects as a WP leader and researcher. Before joining VTT, Mr. Ihme worked in Nokia R&D’s global mobile device product development in different materials specialist positions in polymers engineering on 1999-2012. His activities mainly related to materials development, injection moulding, functional coatings and bonding technologies. Furthermore, he led technology verification, scaling-up and optimising of mass manufacturing processes. He was an industrial member of management groups of several joint-funded academic research projects in micro- and nanotechnology and material science. He is a co-author in several publications and patents.
