Short Bio
César Domínguez, PhD, assistant professor of electronics in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation and Applied Physics of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería y Diseño Industrial works on design and prototyping of innovative CPV concepts and the characterization of concentrator cells, optics and modules. He obtained his PhD on photovoltaic solar energy in 2012 at the Solar Energy Institute of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid where his main focus has been the instrumentation and characterization of CPV optics and modules, notably indoors: his PhD thesis demonstrated for the first time a solar simulator for CPV modules, currently under commercialization. He is an active member of the CPV scientific community. He was the program chair of the 2014 Optics for Solar Energy conference organized by the Optical Society of America in Canberra, Australia, and he is a regular member of its program committee since 2010. He is a reviewer for some of the main scientific journals on PV and optics and he participates in the Technical Committee 82 – Working Group 7 of the International Electrotechnical Commission for the development of standards on concentrator photovoltaics. He has been invited to speak in 5 different international conferences in Asia, North America and Europe and has contributed to 13 articles in scientific journals, two book chapters in CPV handbooks (in press) and more than 40 articles in international conferences.
