Giuseppe Fiorenza received degree in Mechanical Engineering summa cum laude from University of Naples “Federico II” (Italy) with a thesis about the estimation of the heat stress on workers in hot severe environments.
Since 1999, he is a researcher at the ENEA Laboratory for testing and qualification of solar thermal systems and components located in the Trisaia Research Centre, his work mainly concerning solar thermal applications, such like thermal desalination processes driven by low to medium temperature solar collectors and solar-assisted systems for air-conditioning of buildings.
Over the period 2004-2010 he also works in the field of thermal gasification of biomass, his research activity being mainly focused on the development of advanced gasification technologies and their combination with fuel cells. Over the two-year period 2009-2010 he is member of Task 33 / Thermal Gasification of Biomass of International Energy Agency.
Since 2010 he works at the ENEA Portici Research Centre, his work concerning concentrating solar collectors and their combination with PV cells.
He has contributed to several national and European research projects concerning solar energy applications, namely ENEA R&D Programme for Solar Thermal Energy, EU-Project NEGST (New Generation of Solar Thermal Systems), National Project ELIOSLAB.
